Jennifer Kretchmar’s essay highlights the need for self-reflection to recognize personal biases and build stronger connections with students. As an educator, it is important to recognize my own biases and set them aside when necessary to better understand and respect the diverse opinions and beliefs held by students. By doing so, I hope to form connections with my students based on trust and respect, and to create a learning environment where all students are comfortable to share their perspectives.
